Like Nono, during her years in Venice she internalized<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #4a4a4a;\">the fleeting acoustic spaces of the lagoon city. Naturally, St. Mark\u2019s Basilica,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #4a4a4a;\">in which Nono\u2019s Promoteo was premiered, plays a key role here.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #4a4a4a;\">Neuwirth\u2019s Encantadas emerged as a reaction to the special situation of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #4a4a4a;\">this acoustic space. In an elaborate technique, she analyzed and rendered\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #4a4a4a;\">the sound spaces of St. Mark\u2019s at IRCAM. At the same time, Neuwirth\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #4a4a4a;\">refers to Herman Melville\u2019s novella The Encantadas, philosophical considerations set on the Gal\u00e1pagos Islands.
