This is the moment of incarnation, when the human spirit descends down to earth and takes on a bodily existence. To begin with language hasn\u2019t yet become articulate. It\u2019s as if the instruments are cooing and gurgling &#8230; It\u2019s a difficult task, because the physics of consonants and vowels is hugely complex. One spin-off of this research is new software that can impose these speech \u2019formants\u2019, as they\u2019re called, onto other sounds. In my new piece I\u2019ve used this software to create the sense that instruments are speaking and singing simultaneously &#8230; Most of the digital sound transformation is applied to 11 solo instruments, each of which has its own microphone. The signals are fed to a computer, which instantly sends the transformed sound into the hall through loudspeakers.<br \/>\n\u2013 Jonathan Harvey<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"720\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6UJ2RXIEXa4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Il s\u2019agit du troisi\u00e8me volet de ma trilogie relative \u00e0 la purification bouddhiste du corps, de l\u2019esprit et de la parole. Langage et musique sont tr\u00e8s proches et en m\u00eame temps \u00e9loign\u00e9s. Dans Speakings, j\u2019ai voulu r\u00e9unir la musique orchestrale et la parole humaine. C\u2019est comme si l\u2019orchestre apprenait \u00e0 parler, comme un b\u00e9b\u00e9 avec sa maman, comme le premier homme, ou comme entendre une langue tr\u00e8s expressive que l\u2019on ne comprend pas. Les rythmes et les intonations \u00e9motionnelles de la parole sont form\u00e9s par la s\u00e9mantique, mais par dessus tout, ils sont form\u00e9s par des sentiments \u2013 \u00e0 cet \u00e9gard, ils se rapprochent du chant. Dans la mythologie bouddhiste d\u2019Inde, il y a une notion de langage originel et pur, prenant la forme de mantras \u2013 moiti\u00e9 chant, moiti\u00e9 parole. On dit que le \u00ab OM-AH-HUM \u00bb est le berceau de tout langage. Le discours orchestral, lui-m\u00eame touch\u00e9 par les structures du langage, est form\u00e9 de fa\u00e7on \u00ab \u00e9lectroacoustique \u00bb par des \u00ab bribes de paroles \u00bb provenant d\u2019enregistrements pris au hasard.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>http:\/\/youtu.be\/muuNTBFSzzc<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nLes formes spectrales des voyelles et des consonnes vacillent dans des rythmes rapides et color\u00e9s du langage \u00e0 travers les textures orchestrales. Un \u00ab vocodeur de la forme spectrale \u00bb tire avantage des complexit\u00e9s fascinantes du langage : telle est l\u2019id\u00e9e principale de cette \u0153uvre. Le premier mouvement est comme une incarnation, une descente dans la vie humaine. Le deuxi\u00e8me s\u2019int\u00e9resse aux jacasseries fr\u00e9n\u00e9tiques de la vie humaine dans toutes ses expressions de domination, d\u2019assertion, de peur, d\u2019amour, etc. Il d\u00e9veloppe Sprechgesang, \u0153uvre pour hautbois et ensemble, compos\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment. Il se transforme jusqu\u2019\u00e0 devenir \u00ab mantra \u00bb et c\u00e9l\u00e8bre ainsi le langage rituel. Le mantra est orchestr\u00e9 et trait\u00e9 par un \u00ab vocodeur de la forme spectrale \u00bb. Le troisi\u00e8me est, comme le premier, plus court. Ici le langage est plus calme ; il se conjugue \u00e0 une musique harmonieuse, un hymne proche du chant gr\u00e9gorien. Il y a souvent une seule ligne monodique qui se r\u00e9verb\u00e8re dans un grand espace acoustique. Il y a une petite division de ligne contre ligne, ou la musique contre l\u2019auditeur, lorsque la r\u00e9verb\u00e9ration \u00e9limine le sens de la s\u00e9paration entre l\u2019auditeur et l\u2019objet musical. Le paradis du Temple de l\u2019\u00e9coute est imagin\u00e9.
